Green Lantern FanArt: Unveiling the Power of 3D Modeling

This project has been a labor of love that I’ve developed in my spare time over the years, with multiple iterations and continuous improvements. My inspiration comes from the desire to capture the essence of a superhero who, like me, creates with his imagination and willpower.

As a big fan of Green Lantern, I combined elements from both Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner, drawing inspiration from the more modern New 52 versions, and incorporating some design aspects from Injustice.

My main focus was on the anatomy, aiming to define the musculature with a stylized touch, followed by detailed work on the lighting and effects on his suit. The Green Lantern suit, with its neon lines, allowed me to play with complex lighting effects, which were particularly challenging due to the nature of the green color—it’s neither warm nor cool but sits right in the middle of the spectrum. Additionally, each hair plane was carefully placed by hand, using Blender nodes to achieve a soft gradient on every strand.

This project was created in Blender for modeling, textured in Substance Painter, and final rendering was done in Eevee. Although it’s been a long process of refinement, I’m proud of the final result.
